About the Role
Schools Mutual Services are proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Spennymoor, County Durham, seeking an experienced and dedicated Year 6 Class Teacher to join their team from June 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled primary practitioner (M3–M4) to support a Year 6 cohort through the crucial final half-term of primary education and guide them confidently through their transition to Year 7. The role is initially offered on a temporary basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in line with the National Curriculum for Year 6.

Prepare pupils effectively for end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments (where applicable).

Provide strong pastoral support during the transition from primary to secondary school.

Maintain high expectations for behaviour, progress and attainment.

Use assessment effectively to inform planning and ensure pupil progress.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external partners to support pupil outcomes.

Contribute positively to the wider school community.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6.

Year 6 curriculum expectations.

Excellent classroom management skills.

A nurturing, supportive approach to help pupils navigate transition to Year 7.

Commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
