Schools Mutual Services is recruiting dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to work in a number of welcoming schools across Newcastle from September 2027.
These are long-term, full-time opportunities, supporting children on a 1:1 basis and helping them to succeed both academically and personally.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with individual pupils who require additional support throughout the school day.
You’ll be supporting children with a range of additional needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Behavioural needs
Working alongside class teachers and SEND teams, you’ll help pupils access learning, build confidence, develop social skills and achieve positive outcomes in a supportive and inclusive environment.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has previous experience supporting children with SEND.
- Has experience working with Autism, ADHD or behavioural needs.
- Is patient, calm and compassionate.
- Can build positive, trusting relationships with children.
- Is confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis.
- Works well as part of a wider school team.
- Is committed to helping every child achieve their potential.
Experience in schools, alternative provisions, care settings, youth work or support work is highly desirable.
