Job Title: SEND Supply Teacher / Teaching Assistant

About the Role
Schools Mutual Services are seeking dedicated and experienced SEND Supply Teachers and Teaching Assistants to work across a range of schools in Gateshead. This is a flexible role supporting children and young people of all ages with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities

Support pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, and complex needs

Deliver or assist with tailored learning activities based on individual needs

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff

Provide one-to-one or small group support
-
Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being

Adapt to different school environments and age groups

Maintain accurate records of pupil progress where required
Requirements
-
Essential: Proven experience working with children or young people with SEND
-
Experience across a range of age groups (early years to post-16) is highly desirable
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach

Ability to adapt quickly to different school settings
-
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Teaching Qualification or Teaching Assistant certification) are advantageous but not essential
