Could You Make a Difference to One Child’s School Day?
Schools Mutual Services is looking for a compassionate and resilient KS2 SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding morning-only opportunity for someone who understands the importance of patience, consistency and building trusting relationships. You’ll play a vital role in helping a child feel supported, engaged and ready to learn each day.
About the Role
Working on a 1:1 basis within a KS2 classroom, you’ll support a pupil with SEMH needs throughout their morning at school.
You’ll help the child access learning, encourage positive engagement in classroom activities and provide reassurance when needed. Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team, you’ll help create a calm, supportive environment where the child can succeed.
This is a short-term role, expected to last around half a term, although it may finish sooner depending on the school’s needs.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH.
- Can build positive, trusting relationships with children.
- Is calm, patient and empathetic.
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Can remain consistent and supportive throughout the school day.
- Is confident working independently while following guidance from school staff.
Experience in schools, SEND settings, youth work, residential care or support work would be highly beneficial.

- Morning-only hours (4.5 hours per day).
- Competitive hourly pay (equivalent to £106–£112.02 per full day).
