KS1 SEND 1:1 Support Assistant (Part-Time)
Location: Consett, County Durham
Contract: Part-Time (3 Days / 4 Mornings Per Week)
Start Date: September 2026
We are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate KS1 SEND 1:1 Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Consett from September.
This rewarding role involves providing tailored 1:1 support for a Key Stage 1 pupil, helping them access learning, manage behaviour, and achieve their individual targets. The successful candidate will work closely with school staff to implement strategies outlined within the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and support a personalised curriculum designed to meet their specific needs.
As a valued member of the team, you will play a key role in creating a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment that enables the pupil to thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with SEND.
- Follow and implement targets and strategies outlined within the EHCP.
- Support the child with managing behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Deliver and support learning activities adapted to the pupil’s individual curriculum.
- Encourage engagement, participation, and independence throughout the school day.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to support the pupil’s development.
- Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
- Be understanding, patient, and committed to helping children reach their full potential.
- Have confidence in managing behaviour using positive and proactive strategies.
- Be flexible and adaptable to changes in learning plans and daily routines.
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to engage and support the pupil.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Be passionate about making a difference in a child’s educational journey.
