KS2 Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)

A welcoming and supportive primary school in Consett is seeking a dedicated and compassionate KS2 Teaching Assistant to join their team from mid-September.
This rewarding full-time role involves providing 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to implement tailored support strategies, helping the pupil access learning through an individualised curriculum and adaptive learning plans.
Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil will be central to this role. You will take the time to understand their individual needs, strengths, and challenges, providing consistent support that promotes engagement, confidence, and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with SEND.
- Follow and implement strategies outlined within the pupil’s EHCP.
- Support the delivery of adaptive learning plans and personalised curriculum activities.
- Build strong, positive relationships that support the pupil’s emotional wellbeing and development.
- Encourage participation, independence, and confidence within the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to meet individual learning objectives.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to support ongoing development.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
- Be patient, understanding, and committed to helping children achieve their potential.
- Have a good understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning approaches.
- Be confident in adapting support to meet individual learning needs.
- Be proactive, reliable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Be passionate about making a lasting difference in a child’s educational journey.
