💛 Children’s Mental Health Week: Supporting Wellbeing in Our Schools 💛
It is Children’s Mental Health Week, and it’s an important opportunity for schools, families, and communities to come together and shine a light on children’s emotional well-being.
Did you know that 1 in 6 children experience a mental health challenge? Behind that statistic are real pupils who may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, friendship difficulties, or overwhelming pressures. The good news is that the right support, at the right time, can change everything.
Why children’s mental health in schools matters
Schools play a vital role in children’s mental health. For many young people, school is where they spend most of their time, build relationships, and develop the emotional skills they’ll carry into adulthood. When mental health is prioritised in schools, children are more likely to feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
By encouraging open conversations, teaching emotional literacy, and recognising early signs of difficulty, schools can help prevent challenges from escalating and ensure no child feels they have to cope alone.
Raising awareness and encouraging early support
This Children’s Mental Health Week, we’re raising awareness of the importance of:
-
Education – helping children understand their emotions and mental health
-
Early support – identifying concerns early and responding with care
-
Open conversations – reducing stigma and encouraging children to speak up
When children know it’s okay to talk about how they feel, they’re more likely to ask for help and build resilience.
Free resources for schools
To support this work, we’re signposting to Place2Be’s FREE downloadable resources for Primary and Secondary Schools, created to support pupils, staff, and the wider school community.

Because no child should struggle alone
Children’s Mental Health Week is a reminder that mental health matters every day, not just for one week. By working together, raising awareness, and using the right resources, we can help every child feel supported, valued, and able to thrive both in school and beyond.
💛 Let’s continue the conversation and make children’s mental health a priority. 💛
