Location: Stanhope, County Durham
Salary: £150.00 – £165.00 per day (PAYE)
Job Type: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Until October Half Term 2026

Schools Mutual Services is recruiting an experienced Year 6 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Stanhope for a full-time position from September until the October half-term.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident Key Stage 2 teacher who enjoys preparing pupils for the challenges of Year 6 while maintaining high expectations in the classroom.

Please note: This role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs). The school is looking for an experienced teacher who can confidently take responsibility for the class from day one.

About the Role

You will take full responsibility for a Year 6 class, delivering engaging lessons that support pupils both academically and personally during an important stage of their primary education.

Working alongside a supportive leadership team, you’ll ensure pupils continue to make excellent progress while creating a positive and engaging learning environment.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Planning and delivering high-quality Year 6 lessons.
  • Preparing pupils for SATs and the transition to secondary school.
  • Assessing, monitoring and tracking pupil progress.
  • Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom.
  • Completing planning, preparation and marking.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and school leaders.
  • Undertaking all responsibilities expected of a full-time class teacher.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has recent experience teaching in Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6.
  • Is confident delivering the full primary curriculum.
  • Has excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Is organised, proactive and able to hit the ground running.
  • Is committed to achieving the very best outcomes for every pupil.

  • Competitive daily pay of £150.00–£165.00 (PAYE).
