SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Behaviour & SEMH Role | Schools Mutual Services Jobs

Location: Gateshead, Consett, Sunderland, Newcastle & surrounding areas

About the Role

Schools Mutual Services is recruiting SEND Learning Support Assistants to work across a range of school settings, supporting children and young adults with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This role includes opportunities in specialist provisions and PRU-style environments, where you will support students who require structure, consistency, and strong relational support to access education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
  • Support positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
  • Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning and intervention plans
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams

Ideal Backgrounds

  • Psychology Graduates
  • Behaviour Mentors
  • Behaviour Learning Support staff
  • SEMH Learning Mentors

About You

  • Calm, resilient, and consistent approach
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviour
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people
  • Keen to gain experience within school-based settings
