Full-Time Year 6 Teaching Assistant (General & 1:1 SEND Support)

Start Date: 20th April onwards
Pay: £95 – £100 per day
Contract: Full-time

Schools Mutual Services is delighted to be working with a welcoming primary school in Ushaw Moor to recruit a full-time Year 6 Teaching Assistant.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an upper Key Stage 2 classroom, supporting pupils in Year 6 during a crucial stage of their primary education. The role will involve a combination of general classroom support and 1:1 support for pupils with SEND, making it a varied and rewarding position.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general classroom support within a Year 6 setting
• Deliver targeted 1:1 support for pupils with SEND
• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery
• Support pupils with SATs preparation and learning interventions
• Help maintain a focused and positive learning environment
• Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
• Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times

Requirements

• Experience working with children in a school setting
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND (desirable)
• A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 preferred)
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills
• A patient, proactive, and supportive approach
• A valid DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK
