Schools Mutual Services is seeking compassionate, enthusiastic and dependable SEND Teaching Assistants to support a specialist school in Bishop Auckland.
We are particularly interested in candidates who hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. However, we also welcome applications from graduates and people with relevant professional, voluntary or personal experience who can demonstrate strong transferable skills.
This is an excellent opportunity for people who are passionate about helping children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities learn, develop and achieve their potential.
Who should apply?
We would be pleased to hear from candidates who have:
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or another relevant qualification.
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEND Support Assistant.
- A degree in psychology, education, childhood studies, sociology, counselling, social work, health and social care or another relevant subject.
- Experience in youth work, family support, mentoring, sports coaching or community services.
- Experience within residential care, supported living, healthcare or mental health services.
- Experience supporting people with autism, communication needs, learning disabilities or social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Relevant voluntary experience or lived experience that has developed strong practical skills.
- A desire to move into education and the personal qualities needed to support vulnerable young people.
You do not need to have followed a traditional route into education. If your previous experience has helped you develop patience, empathy, resilience, communication skills and the ability to build trust, we would encourage you to apply.
