Schools Mutual Services is seeking compassionate, enthusiastic and dependable SEND Teaching Assistants to support a specialist school in Stanley.
The school would ideally like candidates who hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. However, applications will also be considered from candidates with a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.
We also welcome applications from graduates and people with relevant professional, voluntary or personal experience who can demonstrate strong transferable skills.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
The school’s preferred qualification is a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, but we would also be pleased to hear from candidates who have:
- A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.
- A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.
- Another relevant childcare, education, care or support qualification.
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEND Support Assistant.
- A degree in psychology, education, childhood studies, sociology, counselling, social work, health and social care or another relevant subject.
- Experience in youth work, family support, mentoring, sports coaching or community services.
- Experience within residential care, supported living, healthcare or mental health services.
- Experience supporting people with autism, communication needs, learning disabilities or social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Relevant voluntary or lived experience that has helped develop strong practical and interpersonal skills.
- A desire to move into education and the personal qualities needed to support children and young people with additional needs.
You do not need to have followed a traditional route into education. If your previous experience has helped you develop patience, empathy, resilience, communication skills and the ability to build trust, we would encourage you to apply.
