The school supports Students from 11 to 19 with a dedicated SEND Department supporting the students in the school with EHCP Plans, dedicated 1-1 Teaching Assistant time and any further SEND Requirements.
This is an important role within the school and a great opportunity for a qualified teacher with strong SEND experience who can coordinate high-quality provision, support colleagues and help ensure every pupil receives the personalised support they need to progress.
The position is full-time and long-term, with the potential to develop into a temporary-to-permanent placement for the right candidate.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Qualified Teacher Status – candidates must hold QTS to be considered.
- Significant experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
- Experience coordinating SEND provision or undertaking SEND leadership responsibilities.
- A strong understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans and the annual review process.
- Knowledge of effective provision for pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions or complex medical needs.
- Excellent organisational, communication and record-keeping skills.
- The confidence to work collaboratively with families, colleagues and external professionals.
- A compassionate, pupil-centred and solution-focused approach.
- A recognised SENDCo qualification, the NPQ for SENCO, or a commitment to completing the appropriate qualification.
- An enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service, or willingness to complete the required checks.
Experience within a SEND setting would be highly beneficial. Applications are also welcomed from experienced SEND teachers or leaders who are ready to progress into a dedicated SEND coordination role.
