Contract: Minimum 4-week placement, with potential for longevity
Pay: £95–£100 per day PAYE
Year Groups: Years 3, 4 and 6
About the Role
Schools Mutual Services is looking for a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Bishop Auckland from September 2026.
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, initially for a minimum of four weeks, with the potential to continue longer.
You’ll work across Years 3, 4 and 6, providing general classroom support, delivering interventions and helping pupils stay engaged and confident with their learning.
At times, you’ll also provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs, adapting your approach to ensure they can access their learning and feel supported within the classroom.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with their classwork and learning activities
- Delivering general classroom interventions
- Providing 1:1 support when required
- Adapting activities and your approach to individual pupils
- Supporting positive behaviour, particularly within Year 6
- Building strong working relationships with pupils
- Working closely with teachers and the wider school team
- Helping to create a positive and engaging classroom environment

- Level 2 qualified or has relevant classroom experience
- Confident working across KS2
- Comfortable supporting behaviour within a Year 6 classroom
- Adaptable and able to respond to different pupils’ needs

- Patient and supportive when pupils need additional help
- A reliable team player who is happy to get involved
