Schools Mutual Services is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Chemistry Teacher to support secondary schools across the Durham area from December 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident classroom practitioner who can bring Chemistry to life, engage students and help them develop their scientific knowledge, practical understanding and confidence.
The successful teacher will deliver Chemistry across Key Stages 3 and 4 and, ideally, at A level. The position can be full-time or part-time, with the flexibility to select the days you wish to be available for work.
Opportunities may include specialist Chemistry teaching, longer-term subject cover or general classroom cover, depending on your experience and preferences.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS).
- Excellent Chemistry subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for science.
- Experience teaching Chemistry within a secondary school or sixth-form setting.
- Effective classroom and behaviour-management skills.
- Strong organisational skills and a flexible, reliable approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes for young people.
- An enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service, or willingness to complete the required checks.
