Inspire young learners in our supportive partner schools.
Plan and deliver engaging lessons and help every child achieve their potential.

The UK's Only Non For Profit Supply Agency
For Schools. By Schools.

JOB OVERVIEW

Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Start date: To be agreed
Contract: Full-time or part-time, long-term on-call supply
Daily rate: Approximately £125–£150, dependent on experience and responsibilities

Schools Mutual Services is seeking confident, adaptable and dependable Cover Supervisors to provide on-call supply support directly to a mainstream secondary school in Dudley.

This is a long-term opportunity offering either full-time or part-time work. It would suit someone who enjoys working with young people and can confidently manage a classroom while supporting students to complete work set by their usual teacher.

The successful candidates will become familiar members of the school community, providing reliable cover across a range of subjects when teaching staff are absent.

The role does not usually require lesson planning or marking, as work will normally be prepared by the class teacher or subject department.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students or young people.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour-management skills.
  • The confidence to supervise classes across different subject areas.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • A calm, consistent and professional approach.
  • The ability to follow lesson instructions and school procedures.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Flexibility and the ability to respond to changing cover requirements.
  • Reliability and a commitment to becoming part of the school community.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes for young people.

A teaching qualification is not essential. Applications are welcomed from experienced Cover Supervisors, teaching assistants, graduates, sports coaches, youth workers and candidates with relevant transferable experience.

Why work with Schools Mutual Services?

  • A long-term opportunity within one secondary school.
  • Regular on-call supply work and the chance to become a familiar member of the school team.
  • PAYE employment with no umbrella company deductions.
  • Support from our experienced West Midlands education team.
  • A transparent, ethical and personal service.
