Schools Mutual Services is seeking caring, enthusiastic and dependable Learning Support Assistants to work within our partner schools across Durham.
This is an excellent opportunity for people who are passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their potential.
Opportunities may include supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis, working with small groups or providing wider classroom support. Both short-term and longer-term placements may be available, depending on your experience, availability and preferred working pattern.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
- A caring, patient and encouraging approach.
- The ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- The confidence to support learning and manage behaviour appropriately.
- A reliable, adaptable and professional approach.
- A willingness to learn from experienced school staff.
- A commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes for young people.
- An enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service or willingness to complete the required checks.
Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant would be beneficial, but applications are also welcomed from candidates with suitable transferable skills.
A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not always essential. Where appropriate, Schools Mutual Services can signpost candidates to training providers to help them develop their skills and work towards a relevant qualification.
