Schools Mutual Services (SMS) is a not-for-profit, mutual recruitment organisation dedicated to education. The business was born out of sheer frustration at the exorbitant margins being made by supply agencies. Nick Hurn OBE, the Chief Executive Officer of Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust is the company’s chairman, and the board is made-up of current education executive leadership. The Board’s primary goal is to ensure valuable resources remain in the sector and pay & benefits are commensurate with colleagues, critical for maintaining quality of education provision.
SMS Principles:
- To provide high-quality and reliable support staff and teachers for all schools.
- To ensure fair pay & conditions for the staff employed but to also remain fiercely competitive
- To give back to schools by not taking excess profits out of education
