A secondary school in Washington is looking to recruit a Design and Technology Technician.
Your Role as a DT Technician:
- Prepare and maintain tools, machinery, and materials to ensure they are ready for practical lessons, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Assist teachers during practical lessons by setting up resources and offering technical advice when required.
- Regularly inspect and maintain machinery, tools, and workspaces to ensure they meet safety regulations and guidelines.
- Organise and manage the inventory of materials, ordering supplies as needed to support the curriculum.
- Provide guidance to students, demonstrating the correct and safe use of tools and equipment during lessons.
- Support students in constructing and assembling their design projects by offering technical expertise and advice.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, equipment checks, and any maintenance or repairs undertaken.
- Offer input and technical expertise to enhance the delivery of the Design and Technology curriculum.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure students and staff understand and follow safety procedures to promote a safe working environment.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues with equipment or machinery to minimise disruptions to lessons.
